Slightly jet lagged, but totally thrilled to screen Pō in competition at the Hawai'i International Film Festival.

Short Version

Storytelling is my passion and I’ve devoted my career to exploring narrative and character in the moving image.  For the past 15 years I’ve worked as an editor on a variety of projects including feature films, television, web, fiction, documentary, and reality.  I've got an MFA in Filmmaking from the University of Texas at Austin and I've written and directed half a dozen short films.  I'm based in Austin, TX and I'm currently writing a feature (or two).

También hablo español. Tengo una licenciatura en literatura española de Rice University. Julio Cortázar es uno de mis autores favoritos. Han pasados unos años en que no lo uso el idioma, pero todavía miro películas en español para practicar.

Long Version

Patricia Graynamore has a great line in John Patrick Shanley's 1990 work of cinematic genius/box office flop, Joe vs. the Volcano.  "My father says almost the whole world's asleep.  Everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to.  He says only a few people are awake.  And they live in a state of constant total amazement."

Storytelling brings us a little closer to that divine state.

When I was a little kid my dad used to read Herge's Adventures of Tintin aloud.  My brother and I would follow along with the pictures as Tintin and Snowy, the Captain, Professor Calculus, and the Thompson Twins cracked the case.  My mom would shepherd me and my siblings down the block to the library, where we would load up on chapter books for the coming week.  I didn't start making films until much later, but I've always loved a good story.

I've since written and directed six short films, which have gone on to play in showcases and festivals across the U.S.  I have around 200,000 views on YouTube, and zero followers on Twitter.

I have a BA in Art & Art History and Spanish Literature from Rice University and an MFA in Film and Media Production from the University of Texas at Austin.

I've been an avid guitar player for the last 25+ years and there's a special place in my heart for projects involving music (music videos and live music performances).

For the past 15 years I’ve been working as an editor on a variety of projects including feature films, television, web, fiction, documentary, reality, and branded content. Past contracts include Vice, A&E, TLC, Rooster Teeth, Tastemade, Dell, Environmental Defense Fund, Fair Worlds, Hunt Gather, Flow Sports, Literati, Megalomedia, Super!Alright!, and various independent film and video projects.

I'm currently fine tuning a draft of what I hope will become my first feature. The almost entirely fake autobiography, A Brief History of Tim, is an Academy Nicholls Fellowships Quarterfinalist, a Final Draft Big Break Quarterfinalist, a ScreenCraft Comedy Quarterfinalist, and a Richmond International Film Festival Finalist.

I love a good story.  What's yours?
